About me
Looking back at my childhood, it felt like I spent it more on 2 wheels than 2 feet. I was always biking around the neighbourhood or playing sports with my friends.
What bike? Supercycle SC 500, so good, I bought it twice (after my first was stolen right off my front porch).
As I grew, so did my love of sports. You name it, I played it kinda sitch. As much as I’d be on almost every team in high school and spent all my summers coaching and playing soccer, I’d always find time to bike. Whether it was to transport me to/from soccer or just to rip around to the corner store to buy candy, 2 wheels was my preference.
What bike? Supercycle XTI-21. That Mercalli front suspension was tried, tested, and somehow true.
Fast forward to moving to Vancouver after Physiotherapy school, and I got my first whack at a real road bike. A friend kindly gave her bike to me and I truly fell in love with riding. As I’d (attempt to) attack Van’s hills, I quickly gained an appreciation of how a bike that is my size can further be played with and tailored to be even better.
What bike? KHS Flite 223.
Since moving back to Toronto, I’ve been grateful to find community within the sport of cycling and also have met some fantastic athletes looking to perform.
What bike? Marin Ravenna, my first big girl purchase as soon as I moved back.
As I’ve worked more and more with cyclists in the clinic, I’ve gained an appreciation of the impact that a good/bad/non-existent bike fit makes on the person. Being an intrinsically curious person, when the opportunity presented to gain further education on Bike Fitting, I chomped at the bit. Honing in on both of these skillsets allows me to approach each bike fit from both the perspective of Physiotherapist (human first) and bike fitter (cyclist first) and play with each variable to optimize the fit and feel of human:bike.
